- Professional development – Our local chapter offers bimonthly lunch meetings with technical presentations by local companies and organizations. These meetings cover a broad range of topics, and often offer an insider view into local projects. Occasionally, we also offer ASCE webinars technical webinars voted on by members or site visits to various water, concrete plants and an tour of the Bristol Motor Speedway given by their Facilities Engineer. Our meetings are a great opportunity to earn Professional Development Hours (PDH’s) to keep your license up to date.
- Meet your peers! ASCE offers the unique opportunity to meet engineers from local companies in a friendly and casual environment.
- Access to Student Outreach Supplies, such as two bridges (aluminum and wood) truss bridges that students can put together and walk on/crawl through when they are complete. Free “What is a Civil Engineer” pamphlets, pencils, stickers, bookmarks, and student activities guides.
- Technical Committees – At the State level specialized technical committees meet to discuss issues specific to their field. Technical Committees include: Geotechnical, Water Resources/Environmental, Transportation & Development and the Structural Engineering Institute.
